About Me

Bruno da Silva

Bruno trained formally at FUNCEB and the Universidade Federal da Bahia — home to the first contemporary dance university in South America — before his career took him across the globe. In Brazil, he collaborated with iconic artists including Daniela Mercury, Virginia Rodrigues, and Araketu. In London, he contributed to a BBC international contemporary dance project and performed in West End productions. In Vienna, he performed in major musical productions before touring Germany and Switzerland with Musical Rocks. He danced with the Nawel Skandrani Dance Company in Tunisia, performing at a contemporary festival in Ramallah, Palestine alongside companies from around the world. In Switzerland, he performed for the Opéra de Lausanne and created original choreography — in collaboration with Marina Ritz — at a festival curated by Etienne Frey, former soloist of Maurice Béjart.

Now based in New York, Bruno continues to perform and create at the highest level. In 2025, he was invited to dance a solo at the World Dance Celebration at the Alvin Ailey Theatre — one of the most prestigious stages in American dance. His deep knowledge of the body, movement, and cultural tradition has made him a sought-after teacher and collaborator across the city.

Bruno is now channeling this extraordinary breadth of experience into a focused teaching, performance, and cultural workshop practice. He is particularly drawn to the intersection of movement and visual culture: bringing the Rhythms of Bahia into gallery spaces, cultural institutions, and arts organizations as living, embodied experiences. His workshops are not classes in style; they are immersions in living culture, taught by someone who carries these traditions in his body and his lineage. Bruno is available for performances, residencies, workshops, and cultural programming in New York and internationally.

In this year of 2026 Bruno is with a collaboration project called “Águas” ( Waters ). A contemporary and modern way to dance the Rhythms of Bahia with a contemporary Afro Jazz music Album created by the Brazilian Composer Damian Brirbier . They both had met in January 2026 in Salvador da Bahia Were Bruno also was doing Three short dance videos called . A CIDADE ( the city) . ÁGUAS ( waters) and DA MATA AOS CAOS ( From the Forest to the chaos ) .
